Hide and Seek. NO Peeking – Episodes 13 & 14

This episode opens with Chad, Freddy, Kitzy Kat, Jotasha and the Angels
playing Hide and Seek. One counts while the others run and hide. It goes well until Kitzy Kat is "it" and cheats. Grampa C observes the cheating from his telescope and shakes his head. He doesn't like dishonesty one bit. Cyclic is working on the spacecraft and isn't playing hide and seek. When he joins his friends, he catches Kitzy Kat cheating. He doesn't say anything to anyone. He has made too many mistakes with Jotasha's cat and wants to be careful that he doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. He wants to think about the problem for a day or two.

Kitzy Kat is aware that Cyclic saw him cheating and wonders why Cyclic doesn't say anything. Unknown to Cyclic and Kitzy Kat, Chad also observed Kitzy Kat cheating.

Later, Grampa C and Chad are playing cards on Grampa's front porch, when Chad chances a peek at his next card to see if it will beat Grampa's. Grampa catches him and gives him a stern reprimand. Chad feels humbled and apologizes. Grampa vows to speak with Kitzy Kat about his bad influence on Chad.

The Glorps get lax and Gabriel spots the Duranium Crystals in the nest when he is out on patrol. The Glorps quickly re-hide the Duranium Crystals. Gabriel and Abigail go back to the tree with a big net to retrieve the crystals, but they are gone. However the nest is still glowing from the energy of the Duranium.

The Glorps have made a boo-boo and called attention to the fact that someone or something is hiding the energy source. The Land of I dwellers are suspicious that something sinister resides in their forest and is purposely preventing Jotasha and Cyclic from finding the Duranium to fix their craft.

The problem of the disappearing energy crystals causes Freddy (who lives alone) to begin to imagine all sorts of dangerous things living and lurking in the forest. He begins to have dark circles under his eyes, to be listless and lose his appetite. This causes great concern among his friends.

Gabriel and Abigail are the protectors of the Land of I forest and set out with Cyclic and Jotasha to solve the mystery. The Glorps are well-hidden and they aren't spotted. However, Gabriel does find a shady crow who collects bright shiny objects. The sinister acting crow says he hasn't seen any bright crystals, but he looks like he isn't telling the truth. The group concludes that it is the crow who has hidden the Duranium Crystals and he has stashed them somewhere. Now that the friends feel the thief is the crow, they feel that they will eventually catch him and find his hiding place.

The Glorps are left wanting to be a part of the Land of I forest but not getting to participate because of their dishonesty. The further they get into the deception, the harder it is becoming for them to go back and belong to the community.

Kitzy Kat feels bad and assures Grampa C that he will never cheat again. He also talks to Cyclic about his cheating and promises not to do it again.

Moral and Value for Episodes 13 & 14 – Hide and Seek, No Peeking-
These episodes deal with the consequences of cheating and how cheating undermines the ones who are playing fair and square. Cheating also influences others to cheat as Kitzy Kat learned. Cheating changes a positive game into a negative one.

Freddy's active imagination fueled his fear, which is so much like a normal child that children are bound to relate. As with many fears, Freddy's fear was unfounded. But even if Freddy's fears were valid, the episodes point out that children need to share fears with others, and to seek a solution so they don't feel that they have to face their fears alone. The episode also points out that the Glorps are the real losers of their thieving game. They want to be part of the community, but have to remain on the fringes because they don't want to be caught and returned to USU.
