Freddy

Freddy the Elephant’s legs are short and stubby and he cannot run very fast. (About age 6) He’s a young, shy, awkward, chubby, fun-loving elephant who has many fears. (The “Cowardly Lion” character who’s afraid of the dark, afraid of failure…) Freddy loves to participate in everything, but has trouble with exercising and sports because he is chubby and uncoordinated. He doesn’t have a lot of confidence in himself, and the rest of the Land of I dwellers constantly try to encourage him. Shy and sensitive because of his size, he tries very hard to fit in. Too hard!

Freddy loves to bake pies. He is sensitive, gets hurt easily, and sometimes stutters once in a while. Freddy heads up the exercise segment of the show and flubs up a lot. The important thing is he tries. In addition to the exercise segment of the show, Freddy is the leader of the Petting Zoo segment. Being an animal himself, he can talk to “live” creatures and they can relate back to him. Freddy occasionally tells white lies and acts clumsy, but he is also smart, creative, helpful and loyal. Freddy has great inner potential, but needs to develop more self-assurance. Kids relate to Freddy as he struggles with his problems and recognize that nobody’s perfect. Freddy loves to play the trombone.
